Christmas Card Picture

We're trying to get a picture of Clae to send out in our Christmas card. We're not having a lot of luck agreeing on a Christmas card worthy photo, but I thought some of them were at least blog worthy!

Baby #2 on the way!

If you noticed our blog has a new title! Yes, we are having another baby for those of you who don't know. Was it planned?... No. Were we shocked?...Yes. Are we happy and excited?...very much! We're due at the beginning of June so Clae and the new baby will be 16 months apart. We had an ultrasound and saw the baby yesterday, everything looked good. I'm feeling much better now a few days from my 2nd trimester, so I'm hoping this pregnancy will go smoothly.

Trick or Treat

We took Clae "trick or treating" for the first time. We went to two houses if you consider that trick or treating. It was a really nice evening so he was a little warm in his bear costume, but he seemed to enjoy it. We didn't actually let him have any candy but he had fun playing in the bowl.

Yummy Apple

At 9 mos Clae still doesn't have any teeth, so he's kind of limited on the foods he gets to eat. It's not stopping him from enjoying this apple though, at least he can suck the juice out of it!

More Pics

These are just some random pictures since I haven't put any on for so long.

Jumparoo

It's been forever since I've updated our blog. We don't have a whole lot new going on. Clae is almost 8 mos and is sitting up and acting like he wants to start crawling soon. He's also trying to get teeth, but we haven't seen one pop through yet.

We've been going to MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) every other Friday. So far Clae does not like the nursery at all and I end up taking him into the meeting with me. I'm hoping he gets used to it soon so he can play with the other kids.

Kohen let Clae borrow his jumparoo. He LOVES it! It makes jungle sounds which seems appropriate because he acts like a wild animal when he's jumping.

Ribbit

(Kiles, this post is for you!) I had to post this picture, first of all because I think it's so darn cute, but also because it has a FROG in it. I have an irrational fear and dislike of frogs, I'm not exactly sure why but I always have. So everytime I see one of Clae's frog toys or one of his outfits with a frog on it I think, "eeew, frogs." I'm just waiting for the day he comes to me and says "mommy, look what I found," and he shows me a big, ugly, disgusting frog. That will not be a good day.

More Please...

At almost 6 months Clae is EVERYWHERE! He's not crawling but he rolls everywhere and he "worms" his way around. What I mean by that is he lays on his back, arches himself up so only the top of his head and the bottom of his feet are touching the floor and uses his head to pull himself around. I've never seen anything like it, it's actually pretty impressive. We have hardwood floors so I lay a blanket on the floor for him to play on but it's impossible to keep him on the blanket, he always ends up on the wood but he doesn't seem to mind much.

He is getting much better at eating cereal from a spoon and we've now started to incorpororate a few vegetables which he seems to like fairly well. Kirby is much better at feeding him food from a spoon, he's much more patient than I am. We're at grandma's in this picture, this was her first time to see him eating from a spoon.

Uncle Brandon and Aunt Sissy

My sister and I have been calling each other Sissy for as long as I can remember. A few years ago we decided to try to be mature and start calling each other by our actual names, but it didn't happen. So, now it's only natural to refer to her as Aunt Sissy. Clae loves his Uncle Brandon and Aunt Sissy and I think they kind of like him too! They just celebrated their 1 year wedding anniversary on the 21st. Congratulations Carly and Brandon!

So Tired

We went for a walk the other night, apparently it was a little bit to close to Clae's bedtime because he fell asleep in his baby carrier. I can't imagine that thing is very easy to fall asleep in so he must have been pretty tired.

Shades

We thought Clae needed some shades for the summer. He looks SO funny in them!

Fun in the Sun

We got a little pool for Clae. Yesterday was a beautiful day so took him outside for a little fun pool time. He didn't really care much about it, but he loved laying outside naked when he was done "swimmin".

Photo Session

Here are some of Clae's professional picutures we had taken. They turned out pretty well despite the fact that the whole day was a nightmare! We were not that impressed with Sears and Clae was mad the whole time. Hopefully next time will go a little better!

High Chair

We got Clae's high chair put together and we're letting him practice sitting in it before we start trying to feed him cereal in a few weeks.

3 Months

Clae will be 3 months old on Saturday, I can't believe how fast the time has gone. Reflections on being a mother at 3 months...I thought I would enjoy the tiny infant stage the most but as Clae gets older I enjoy him more and more. He gets more predictable, more interactive and more fun. I've had to be a lot more flexible with my task oriented, control freak personality. Sometimes I wonder if my house will EVER be clean again, but I realize that it's much more important to play with my son than to dust or wash dishes. Kirby is a great daddy. We're so glad he's been able to be home and hasn't had to be in Branson. As the weather gets nicer he's gone a lot more, but we make the most of the time we get to spend with him. Being a mom is the hardest, most rewarding experience I've ever had or will ever have. It's amazing!

Trip to Ames

After owning his Bronco for 10 years Kirby decided it was time to sell it. It was a hard decision for him to make and it was sad for him to see it go. The person he sold it to lives in Ames so we took the opportunity to visit some friends while we were there delivering it.

We stayed with Jen and went to visit Kate and her family. We went to Cornerstone on Sunday, it was nice to be back in Ames for a little while.

Goodbye twenties, goodbye freedom, goodbye Bronco!

Little Man

Clae will be 10 weeks old tomorrow. We're having so much fun with him as he gets older. He's a lot more solid now and doesn't seem so fragile. He's sleeping more hours at night which makes for a more rested mom! He weighed 12 lbs 9 oz at his last appointment and was 24 3/4 inches long. To quote the doctor "that's big!"

We took Clae for his first walk in the stroller. The weather hasn't been very nice here yet so we haven't been able to take him on many walks. This day it was about 50 degrees out. We didn't want him to get cold so we put him in his little brown bear outfit. He was toasty warm! We laugh every time we look at this picture.

He wore the shirt Aunt Sissy got him to church. We think he looks like a little man when he wears it.

He's a happy boy after his bath.

Clae likes to sleep...during the day anyway!

Snuggle Time with Daddy

Daddy and Clae LOVE to snuggle!

Our Precious Little Valentine

Uncle Kelly and Aunt Tiffany got Clae this "Little Heartbreaker" outfit for Valentine's Day. We think the outfit makes his hair look SO red!

It's Good to be Home

Clae is doing great at home. He loves to eat and he's a great sleeper. He's been a wonderful baby.

Going Home

We brought Clae home in one of the biggest snow storms of the year. It was an adventure but we made it safely.

Our Family

Welcome Baby Clae!

On February 3, 2008 at 6:52 p.m. we welcomed Clae Daniel Cass into the world. He weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and was 22 1/2 inches long. My water broke at 12:10 a.m. on the 3rd, we went to the hospital around 1:00 a.m. After 18 hours of labor and not enough progress the doctor decided to do a c-section. This was really hard for us to hear, but for the safety of me and the baby we knew it was the best decision. After having our little Clae here it was all worth it!

Last (and biggest) Belly Picture

Here is my February 1st belly picture. We were hoping maybe we would have the baby by the first but it didn't happen.

Baby Shower

Me, my mother-in-law and my mom

My sisters-in-law threw us our first baby shower on Saturday. It was a really nice shower and it was so nice to get many of the things we need for when the baby comes.
