How Did I Do?

How am I doing meeting my goals for the week?

well, lets see...

Bible Study...A-
I did go to class this week AND I had my lesson done. I have not started on next weeks lesson yet, so I will probably be rushing at the last minute to get it done, hence the A-

Drinking more water...B
While I have been drinking more water than I usually do, I still need to be drinking more. Steps have been made in the right direction, but there is still some work to be done in this area.

Exercising...B+
I did two walk/jogs (with the stoller) and did the Cardio Max DVD once. The Cardio Max was a great workout for me, just the right amount of difficulty to get back into working out. My legs are REALLY sore and it feels REALLY good!

Patience with my kids...A
I am glad to say I saw the most progress in this area! It was a good week, I had my moments, don't get me wrong, but, by the grace of God, I had several victories in the patience area. I'm sure I have victories every week, but they don't seem as obvious as the ones I had this week. Or, maybe, since I was feeling discouraged, God gave me the gift of allowing me to see the small triumphs for what they were. Either way, I was encouraged and given new strength to keep pressing on in this most difficult and rewarding job of raising small children.

We May Have a Problem

Usually when I put Lydia down for a nap I don't hear a peep out of her. I put her in her crib, tuck her in, close her door, and she's out.

Today, for some reason it seemed like it was taking her forever to go to sleep, she kept talking and just making noise in general, not typical behavior for her. I went in to check on her only to find her pantless and pull-upless, sitting there, happy as can be with her naked little bottom. I put a diaper on her this time (thinking maybe the pull-up was the problem) put her pants back on her, tucked her in, and left.

Five minutes later she was still making noise, I checked on her...naked.

FOUR times this happened, after the first time I disciplined her every time I went in. I think the fourth time was a charm and she ended going to sleep with her pants ON. After her nap she called for me, I went in to get her...naked.

I'm REALLY hoping this does not become a habit, I can just forsee all of the messes that will be made if she decides to do this in the middle of the night. I'll keep you posted....

Goals for the Week

1. Do my Bible Study.
I have not gone to Bible Study or done my lesson for the last two weeks. SO...one of my goals for the week is to buckle down and do my lesson AND I should be able to go to Bible Study this week since Kirby will be home.

2. Exercise
We used to go on walks/jogs daily, but since I have extra kids now that is not really possible during the day and for some reason the evenings seem to get to busy and we don't get it done then either. I borrowed a workout video from my sister (Car, I have your Cardio Max if you're looking for it!) and I'm hoping to be able to do that workout while the kids are napping or after they go to bed at night.

3. Drink more water
My coffee is always ready and waiting for me when I get up in the morning so I just start drinking coffee first thing and forget to drink water. I am going to try to drink a full glass of water before I start in on coffee and just generally drink more water throughout the day.

4. Be more patient with my children
My task oriented side has taken over for the past few weeks resulting in me being less patient with my children that I would like to be. The last thing I would ever want is for two of the most precious people in my life to feel like they are in any way a burden. So, my final goal for the week is to make a conscious choice to focus on my children, on their needs, and on training them in the way they should go.

"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it" Proverbs 22:6

New Font

My new font is called "Covered by Your Grace". I thought that was a GREAT title for a font. Anyway, if it's too hard to read let me know, I can change it back.

Back to "Normal"

I'm thinking and hoping that life is going to start feeling somewhat "normal" again. Ever since Brandon's accident things have been...crazy, overwhelming, busy, emotionally draining, etc. BUT they are home now and Kirby is finished with their bathroom (which is awesome by the way, I should post some pics of it before and after). I'm feeling like we can breathe a sigh of relief and start getting back to business as usual. As I say this I can't help but think of Car and Brandon who will have to get used to a "new" normal. I must say, though, that they are doing extremely well and making the most of their unfortunate situation.

Yesterday I cleaned my house, CLEANED IT. I had been doing my best to keep things picked up, dishes done, laundry at least washed if not folded and put away. I forced myself to look the other way when I saw the dust bunnies multiplying under the furniture, the fingerprints on the windows, and the less than spotless toilets because I knew I just did not have time to clean any of it. So, yesterday I had no extra kids and I was going buckle down and clean. I got one bathroom done and realized my kids were not going to allow this planned "cleaning day" to happen, so I called for reinforcement (my mom). She came over and took the kids outside to play and helped me clean while they were napping! I can't tell you how good it feels to look around and see CLEAN!

We are planning a getaway weekend to Minnesota in a couple of weeks. Just to get away from the everyday and have some fun as a family. We are planning to go to the Mall of America, Minnesota Zoo, swim at the pool at our hotel, and see my aunt and uncle while we are in town.

I'm trying to figure out what to do for Lydia's birthday. To have a party or not. It's Memorial Day weekend which is a busy time for everyone, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do. And if we have a party I'm trying to decide on a theme. Last year we did ladybugs so this year I'm thinking about butterflies or bumblebees. Not sure yet.

Easter

All dressed up.

Opening Easter baskets from Daddy and Mommy.

We spent the afternoon with Kirby's family. Kohen and Abraham got a Gator too, so the boys...and Lydia spent the afternoon riding.

Clae on a 4 Wheeler. Scary.

The Easter egg hunt at Papa and Nanny Cass's.

They had to load up all of their loot into the Gators!
